Welcome to the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument

Welcome to the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument. Dedicated on March 29th, 2014, the monument stands on the northeast side of the Texas Capitol grounds as a permanent tribute to the Texans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War.

This is also a “living monument” that includes an online educational archive of veteran stories, photos and videos to preserve the history of Texans in the Vietnam War as an educational resource. The full monument experience also includes other social and interactive features such as online discussions and reflections, user-submitted personal accounts and tributes, interactive maps, and a virtual tour mobile web application to enhance your experience as you visit the monument site.

The Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument stands as a permanent honor to all Texans who served in the Vietnam War – and also serves as a permanent memorial to the 3,417 Texans who never came home.  This memorial is made through The 3417 Project, which individually honors each Texan who died in the Vietnam War.
